Nordic Jazz. Latvian Radio Big Band. Three World Premieres

Traditionally, December is the month of the Big Band Composition Contest’s final for Young Composers from the Baltics and Nordic countries, hosted annually by the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA) and the Latvian Radio Big Band. This year marks the 5th anniversary of the event and audiences will have the chance to hear new pieces by Tobias Stavngaard (Denmark), Aarni Häkkinen (Finland) and Anna Bignami (Italy), as well as a special performance by Europe’s leading trombone player Jievaras Jasinskas from Lithuania, original pieces by the Latvian Radio Big Band – and some surprise performances!
