Katrīna Paula Felsberga and Malcolm Martineau
The talented singer of the younger generation and recipient of the Great Music Award Katrīna Paula Felsberga has not only captivated the Latvian audience but also performed at the prestigious Pierre Boulez Hall in Berlin with her debut solo concert earlier this year. There she was accompanied by the legendary Malcolm Martineau, in whose hands every phrase of the piano part in vocal chamber music is entwined with refined excellence. We invite you to experience a unique reunion of the two artists at the finale of the Autumn Chamber Music Festival, where the geniuses of Austrian songs will be paired with Latvian classics. The characters in Hugo Wolf's Italienisches Liederbuch (Italian Songbook) not only declare their love for each other but also tease, argue and sing away their pain and sorrows. The sensual southern soundscapes will be complemented by reflections of Franz Schubert's dual worldview, where joy turns into sadness, sadness is intertwined with hope, and love and pain are identical matters. This evening, Schubert's serene winter evening and the unnerving breath of death will meet the power of Lūcija Garūta's tenderness.
